DeLuca’s Restaurant is a pizza and italian food serving restaurant. DeLuca’s celebrated 50 years of service in 2010 and is three generations of the same family in Michigan. The restaurant was previously known as Willow Bar and was opened by Italian immigrants, Pat Deluca and his brother-in-law Jim in 1960. As the restaurant grew in popularity the family changed the name of the restaurant to DeLuca’s and added more specialty items to their menu. DeLuca’s has won numerous awards for the best pizza in Lansing. DeLuca’s is my grandfather’s favorite place to order pizza from and he always talks about how good their pizza is but, I haven’t had anything other than pizza there beforehand. My grandpa calls to order pizza and in around 20 minutes it is ready to be picked up and he takes it home. The pizza isn’t very expensive but, it definitely doesn’t cost as little as a Little Caesars pizza. I went to Deluca’s with my great grandma and when we walked in we were immediately greeted and shown to our table, the waitress took our drink orders. They had Pepsi products and the drinks were at our table within 10 minutes. Our orders were taken when we got our drinks and the service was relatively fast. The restaurant was not busy, but it was definitely not empty either. The customer service at DeLuca’s was pretty average for what it should be. The hostess was kind and smiled greeting me and my great grandmother. Our waitress was nice and did exactly what a waitress should do making the experience overall positive. We tipped for the wonderful service and the hostess smiled and wished us well on the way out. The general atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but it was a little loud sometimes. The lights were set to slightly dim in most areas and darker in other corners. The floor’s look just as clean as a restaurant should be and the walls color coordinated with the floors nicely. The tables and other furniture were alo clean and not overly worn. I went in to the bathroom to wash my hands and being honest the bathroom could be a little cleaner. The noise atmosphere was okay most of the time but a little too loud. Overall, the food was pretty authentic italian in taste and came out the perfect temperature. I ordered a half order of cheese ravioli ($11.00) and my great grandma ordered a meatball sub ($8.00). The ravioli was presented on a plate with a significant amount of tomato sauce covering the raviolis. Mozzarella cheese was melted on top of the entree with a golden brown crisp center. I really enjoyed the tomato sauce and cheese center was creamy unlike some gritty cheese ravioli I have had from other restaurants. Being honest, I would have rather not had the mozzarella on top, it didn’t add to the dish and made it more difficult to access the raviolis. In closing, I had a good experience eating at DeLuca’s Restaurant and I wouldn’t mind going again. I would not say this is a new favorite place to eat out but, I would not say no to going. The food is satisfactory, the customer service is exceptional, the restaurant is clean with a good atmosphere and had a reasonable wait time for our food/drinks. On the way out if you choose, there is a variety of italian desserts you can purchase that are all made there daily, I have not purchased any before. The pricing is decent and you will have a good time if you eat at DeLuca’s.
